Gas and Electrical Advisors are present at a scene to help determine the cause of a fire. Usually involved in house fires, these advisers enter the property post fire in order to determine whether or not a fire has occurred due to gas or electrical faults in the building. They work with the insurance loss adjusters in order to identify whether or not there is room for a legitimate payout for the owners of the property or whether or not any claims being made are fraudulent. They do this by checking the supply cables and gas pipes for specific damage that may have caused the fire. Those damages would also be checked to ensure that they weren't inflicted but were the result of poor construction. Should a fire result die to poor construct or false safety checks being warranted then then the result would be that the advisory teams would correspond with the HSE and the Police in order to have the companies at fault investigated.
If they determine the fire is intentional then the Gas and Electrical Advisors work alongside the Insurance Loss Adjusters, Police and Investigators on the case. They will aid in every way they can to ensure the claim is dealt with as a fraudulent one and a successful prosecution is swiftly dealt with. In some cases they may be required to correspond with SOCO's in order to identify where the fires seat is and where any damage to the wiring or gas lines were inflicted prior to the fire so the SOCO's can photograph it for evidence purposes. The advisers may be called to court as witnesses to provide their findings however more often than not this is done via a formal report.
