Insurance Loss Adjuster

An Insurance Loss Adjuster is responsible for the investigation, analysing and determination the extent of insurance company's liability when it comes to personal, casualty, or property loss or damage. This is done in order to attempt to reach settlement claims with victims. An ILA will liaise with medical specialists as well as witnesses and claimants in order to collect information on the situation in order to calculate the appropriate claim benefit payments and approve the claims. Obviously claim payouts depend on the company that the claimant is insured under as each insurance company has a different maximum payout amount.

The ILA will focus primarily on analysing the information gathered during a fire investigation and report the findings to their offices so as to deal with claims appropriately. They will collect evidence to support contested claims in court. They will work with their colleagues in order to do an extensive background check on an individual to ensure the claim is justifiable. They essentially look into the claims and once they are satisfied it is a valid claim the contact the insurance company and negotiate a settlement. Any fraudulent or questionable claims would be taken directly to the police.
